Answer: they are all appearing in this blog post! Here's a few news worthy shots from my recent travels. Part two will deal with the torturous journey back from Wroclaw to Warsaw yesterday - 7 hours of standing in a packed corridor whilst at every stop more and more desperate people struggled to get on to get back to the capital after yet another long weekend.

I'm not well versed in Catholic practices in this country, but here's one of a large number of shrines/monuments that dot the streets of any major city, town or village. Have these always been here? What purpose do they serve? As visible tributes to the faith of Polish people they are admirable - most are well tended and surrounded by votice candles and flowers. Furthermore, unlike England's monuments, they tend to be universally
respected by people (Maybe I'm just suffering from
confirmation bias, but the way that the great Polish public respect each other is definitely one of the reasons why I enjoy living here).
Below, pne of the key factors as to why Euro 2012 has the potential to be a PR disaster for Poland and Ukraine: here - available in the local equivalent of WH Smiths - a magazine which glorifies football hooligans all across Europe. It's society's tacit condoning of "the firms" which has allowed hooliganism to continue in Poland this long - recent tough and possibly overzealous crackdowns by the Government are probably too little, too late.
The question with regard to potential rioting or troube at Euro 2012 will now whether the police can effectively control the potential for disorder, not whether the potential for disorder seriously exists. (The problem is the Police sometimes look as if they enjoy the

Lastly and unfortunately less light heartedly, a tribute marking the scene of a motorcyclist's death on Indiry Gandhi last week. Notice the crash helmet surrounded by flickering candles.
Quite sad, and even more sadly just one of the many whose families are now forced to mark a loved one's passing - 71 people alone died in the four days ofthis holiday weekend
