It can be easy to dismiss social media as a tool for people to waste time, but more and more brands are making serious inroads into establishing a presence on social media platforms. Why? Because they are evolving from places you log onto the internet to use, to places you use to log onto the internet. I read that facebook is only a quarter of the way through its plans to overhaul its site, god knows how addictive and inter operable it will be by the end. Along with some poorly thought out fails there's are some really powerful indicators of how much a social media presence can count. For example, read both of these letters.
Sweet enough. But on facebook that's already received just under a 'hundred thousand likes' (think a knowing nod) and thirty thousand 'shares' (think showing your friends a photo in your wallet).
One letter, 150,000 positive interactions. Now consider if the guy who'd received the letter had thrown it away because he was busy and, after all, it was only a child with a silly request.
The importance of taking every customer seriously, or in this case, seriously but not so seriously, shouldn't be underestimated.
(This post was for the various people who have expressed scepticism about social media in Poland in recent months!)
